My grandfather was Thomas Gavaghan of Boston, MA - He died about 1930-35; He was about the age you mentioned, but I do not know his exact DOB. He worked as a Customs inspector (unloading the Kennedy scotch!). I have cousins with surname of GAvigan and Gavighan - they use both spellings in Boston area. Any more info? where in Ireland was the family from - I went there last year and foudn no mention of the name - My brother and I are returning this fall and would like to visit the ancestral abode. Thjomas had at least one other brother in Boston - that is how he married my grandmother - his brother was already married to one of her sisters - she returned from montana in the teens a young widow - first hubby gunned down in a barroom fight. She was born Margaret Bowden in PEI, Canada in 1890.
