My great-great-grandfather was Charles W Garrow born 22Oct1835 in Varennes Que. Garrow was not his original surname. Some of his descendants say that it was Garant. But - my mother insisted his name was pronounced "gooved-row". Could Gauvreau or a similar spelling have been his surname?
