Gautreaux -gautreau in the Dominican Republic

Hi! we are a small family living in the Dominican Republic, and we have a family history that give us a vague idea how my ancestors ended up here in the island.
What we know is that there were 3 gautreau brother, one of them I believe was called Jean Pierre Gautreau, they Travel fron france to Canada and then to Lousiana (?) and from there to the southern part of the Hispaniola island ( which is now Haiti) they suposely worked in slave trade.
When an internal war started they moved to the northern part of the island (Dominican Republic now) they married, ect, ect.
I wish I could now more. My grandfather was the great grandson of one of this 3 brothers, but he is dead now. I would like my father to do the dna test, it would be interesting.

Regards
Giselle Gautreau
