Francois was my ancestor (nine generations ago)by his second wife, Edmee LeJuene of France(mtDNA evidence).
From all my searches, it appears that Francois' first wife, Marie was of First Nations lineage. She bore Francois two children, Marie and Charles. She died a couple of years before he married Edmee(1644)with whom he had nine children.
Marie's children both had kids and a First Nation lineage established.
