Hello the Goutney's I am looking for are also from and around Arkansas. All I really know is that my great grand mother Stella Dewdrop Gwaltney, Gautney, Gaultney was born March 08, 1912 in Manilla Arkansas. Her mother's name was Mary Busby born September 22, 1884 in Tennessee. She died December 04, 1963 and is buried Pine Hill Cemetry, Craighead County, Jonesboro Arkansas.

Now, before Stella was born, her dad Robert Gautney, Gwaltney, Gaultney was putting the final touches on his and his wifes new roof when he fell from the roof and died. It has been Passed down that he was born in Turrell Arkansas, in which is in Crittenden County, before 1825 it was Arkansas county. This is what gives me reason to suspect that my Gwaltney ancestor may have been from the branch that settled in Dyer County, TN in the early 1800s. Members of that part of the family could easily have crossed the river and settled in eastern AR. I know this person couldn't have appeared and ***poof*** disappered along with his whole family leaving my great great grandmother and my great grandmother alone.
