Hi June,
My name is Joe Gautieri, and Luigi Gautieri was my great great grandfather. His son, D. Sisto Gautieri was my great grandfather. His son, Luigi Sisto Gautieri, Sr. was my grandfather. And his son, Luigi Sisto Gautieri, Jr. is my father. My father and grandfather went by their english names: Louis S. Gautieri.
My father still lives is Rhode Island. I left R.I. in 1988 and moved to Maryland. My grandfather died when I was a teenager (I'm 43 now). My great grandfather's full name was Domenico Sisto Gautieri (my father's brother has that same name now), but everyone called him Sisto. He died young (in his early 40s) from an accident while he was riding a horse in a parade in Providence. The horse got spooked, overturned and landed on him. I, of course, don't remember the original Luigi Gautieri that came over on the boat, but my father has some recollections of going over to see "Papa Luigi" on Sundays when he was a boy.
Well, I don't want to ramble on. I hope this helps you. My father has all the "geneaolgy stuff" at home in R.I. What are your interests in looking into our family. I notice you also carry the Gautieri name.
To respond, please do so by using my private email address (I don't get much time to check out these boards):
Joe Gautieri
