Hi Deb, I forgot Stu's last name & Mike's biking out west so he couldn't get it to me. I've been working on the Dragon & Gauthier genealogy for the past 6 months. I've even been in touch with Beverly Perron as well as Dick & Eleanor. I've traced back most of the lines to either France or England & have about 3,000 Gauthier & almost 2,000 Dragon ancestors. I've done write-ups on Memere's & Pepere's families going back 3 generations as well as things like famous ancestors, anecdotes, etc. I sent these to Dick & he's going to edit them. I also have prepared ancestor charts going back 11 generations from our parents. I send out occasional progress updates. Send me your email & I'll include you. You can bypass Genforum & reach me directly at tomhayden@cox.net. I have some noted that I started when this began that are a good starting point & I'll send them to you. Sis & Terry can't agree on many of the details about "Frank" even his actual name. I even joined a French Canadian Genealogy Society for the extra resources to trace him. Even they can't find a birth record either civil or church. I traced him back to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1880 when he wasn't quite 2 yrs old. It is almost definite that he was born in Indian Orchard, Springfield, MA in 1878. He was brought back to Bromont, Quebec to be baptized. I have a copy of the baptismal record. Parents were Alphonse (baptized D'Alphonse) Gauthier & Onesime Dumas. Alphonse was actually born in High Tower, Vermont in 1854 & married Onsime probably in the US. He had more brothers than Terry or Sis were aware of. An older one, William, & then Georges, Alphonse, Henri, Edward Gerard & Edgar. His father worked in a cotton mill in Indian Orchard. The family moved to Brome, Quebec by 1887. It is possible that the mother & kids moved as early as 1881. Alphonse is listed in the Springfield city directory as late as 1886. They stayed in Brome until mid-1890s (probably 1894) & then moved to Putnam, CT. US census records have the entire family there in 1900. Frank married Louisa in 1905 in Putnam. His mother, father, & Edgar, Henri & Edward moved back to Quebec by 1911. Georges & Alphonse stayed in the US. Alphonse used the name Alfred in the US & is Claire & Lucille's father. He was actually baptized "Ildefonse". Again, I have a copy of the baptismal record. Email back & feel free to give my email address to Claire & Lucille's kids.
