Georges, Some very intriguing info in that census data. 1) The head of the family, Alphonse, is too old to be my Alphonse, Uncle Fred, in Pawtucket, RI in the 1930's. I was able to trace him through his wife, Laura Brouillette & the 1920 US census. He was born in Missisquoi, PQ in 1883. 2) Some very strange demographic breakdowns within the family. Alphonse, William & Frankie were all born in CT. Eliza & the other 5 children were born in Canada. Eliza claims to have come into the US in 1874 but the 5 youngest children came in 1894. 3) It is known for certain that Frank & his brother George were born in Canada. The census lists him as born in CT. However, his 1900 occupation is the same as the married Frank in 1910 - cotton weaver. 4) They all lived on Church St in 1900. In 1910 Frank lived on Church St at a close but different address. 5) The months & years of birth for Frankie & George match their WWI draft registrations. 6) The William matches the William who lived near Frank & Louise in 1910. I think he turns into "Uncle Willie". This definitely bears further investigation. My instinct tells me that the wife Eliza was an older relative of Frank, maybe an aunt. She came to CT married Alphonse Gauthier & had a son William. Something happened to Frank's family in Canada in 1893/94 & they came to live with Alphonse & Eliza. This assumes that Frank's "Place of Birth" on the 1900 form is incorrect. Edgar the youngest may have gone back to Canada. That leaves the other 3 boys, Alfred, Henry & Edward. Alfred is the right age to be the "Alphonse" in RI. It is possible that he is just listed differently in the 2 censuses. I haven't come across Henry or Edward at all. If this is the case then are the Jean-Baptiste & Henriette his parents? I'm starting to doubt it. I think it is time to go back to the 1891 Canadian census & start looking for all these names. Frank, Alfred, Henry & Edward should be listed. Any ideas on good online sites to check Quebec death records? I'd like to fix the dates of death of frank's parents. Definitely good stuff.
