RE (Gauthier-Delisle - Labarre-Genest)
Interesting clue…!
I looked up the Gauthier-Genest marriage and have copied the pertinent information below ALONG with part of the descendency of Joseph Gilbert GAUTHIER m. Joseph married Catherine CARTIER (they could well be the parents of your Louis-no proof though).
It is improbable that your Louis is the child of François GAUTHIER and Catherine Thérèse PéloQUIN since they were married in 1823 and Louis said he was 36 at the 1857 census of St. Paul. Still, that could be erroneous so we must take it into account.
Louis could well have another name (middle or otherwise) but I doubt if Lucy does although Lucy is not a French name rather it is an anglicized version of Lucille and, you’re right, Paul is often used for Napoleon.
I am afraid we’re behind the proverbial eight ball because we are reduced to looking at possibilities/probablilities. We need to find the marriage of Louis and Lucy but the trouble is we do not know where to look and under which name they could be listed.
