Years ago I made a copy of one page of the estate distribution record of Joseph Gaunt of Newberry SC. At that time, my only interest was in his daughter Elizabeth. I can only read segments of the page I copied:
Estate of Joseph Gaunt, dec's in Account with Jacob Gaunt & Israel Gaunt admi.
1818 --Cash paid Walter Gaunt his distributive part of the ___ estate. $74.78
Cash paid Samuel? W Calla?? who was authorized by power of attorney to receive
Thomas Blackburn & Elizabeth his wife distributive part of the estate. $74.78
Cash paid __ __ Harrington on account paid previous to settlement of estate $1.35
Cash paid Joel or Jack Smith which was omitted in Aug. return on the settlement -- --the g Minors parts of whichis$4.26 Cash paid William Smith for ___ sale which was omitted in settlement the g Minors part of which is $1.62
Cash paid Urich Seppard for tuition of Elijah Gaunt, minor
[Seppard paid for 3 more minors, one appears to be Elisha, others can't read]
Can't read the rest.
My notes indicated this was from the South Carolina Archives---Newberry Col, Will A 559---Box 43, Estate 7, roll N211-- Will/Disbursement of est. of Joseph Gaunt-- Probate March 4, 1816 [ I noted that in 1816 Elizabeth was Elizabeth Gaunt and in 1818 she was Elizabeth Blackburn.
In the 1900 census of Perry County, Alabama-- William P. Blackburn, son of Elizabeth Gaunt Blackburn, had living with his family, Zilpha Guant. She is listed as a cousin. Zilpha appears to be daughter of Eli Gaunt, brother of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Guant born March 11, 1797 in Newberry Dist, SC--died November 15, 1879 Perry County, Alabama. She married Thomas Blackburn about 1817. My ggg grandparents.
