My family originally spelled their last name GAUL. Descendants of John Frederick Gaul
who fought in Revolutionary War after arriving in Philadelphia in 1776. The 'H' was added to the name around the time of the Civil War. Most descendants are still on the east coast.I have a fairly complete family tree after 1776.
