I don't know if there is any connection... however, My greatgrandfather, Richard J. Gaul, was born in Southern Kilk. around 1845. I believe he had one brother and a sister. Family stories say his brother went to England and joined the military. Don't know his given name, but his father's name was John Gaule. I have not been able to find any info on him thus far.
