Kathy,

You likely found the marriage of John GAUL to Eleanor or Ellen TOBIN in the Catholic records of "Our Lady of Mt. Carmel" in Prospect, Nova Scotia, where on page 36 is recorded their marriage on 3 June 1825. A correction to your message - I copied "John Gaul son of James Gaul and Margaret C----- of the County of Kilkenny Ireland on the one side and Eleanor Tobin daughter to Richard Tobin and Eleanor Evans of Dalhousie Settlement on the other side..."

For children of John and Eleanor I have the following (can you point out any errors or omissions?):
James b. abt Apr 1826
Richard b. abt 1830, m. Rosy Masen/Marrin/Maran/Maren/Marion/Morin
(these older records are difficult to read)
John b. abt 1833
Patrick b. abt 1835, m1st Ellen Forrestal, m2nd Martha Taylor
Catherine b. 29 Mar 1835, m. a Mr. Horner
Mary Frances b. 13 Sep 1837 (from the 1901 census...not very reliable) m. Martin Franey (brother of my g-grandfather)
William b. abt 1843, m. Catherine Oickle
Laurence b. abt 1846, m. Cecilia Mathews
Ellen b. 4 Apr 1850, m. Patrick Forrestal

I'm interested in tracing all descendants of the above.

Steve Franey in Kings Co., N.S.
