Thanks for looking, Gary. I'm not certain that the family was Catholic. I did find a couple of Catholic marriages for Gaul's in WV in the early 1850's, but do not know if they were related to Jacob. My ggma (Jacob's daughter)attended an Episcopalian church after her marriage,so I was guessing that the family was "evangelisch" in Germany.
