The town that I have been told is Ballenaroughery,(not sure of spelling) County Kilkenny, Ireland. I would be very interested in knowing more about your William that married Mary Franey. Such as dates. My other great grandfather John McCourt married a Mary Catherine Flanigan. We have seen it spelled many ways and one was Flanery, Franey and many others. We have never been able to find her death records even though we know that she died in Jones Co., Iowa in 1862-1864. We are not positive that her name was Flanigan. We have found a marriage record for a John McCourt and a Mary Flanigan in 1856 in Jones Co., Iowa. That was 2 months after my Great grandmother was born. I know that it could happen even back then but a lot of things are unclear. Back to the Gaule's. I have a picture of their graves and family home (which is now quite run down). We have 1 living relative still there and are pretty sure that Ballenaroughery is the right town. Hope to hear from you soon. You can e-mail me direct at Taysind@cs.com. Be sure and put Gaule in the subject line as I usually do not open e-mails from unknown sources.
Cindy
