My grandfather lived in Vail, Iowa before coming to Spalding, Nebr. sometime after 1903. William Joseph Gaul was born around 1860(where?), married Jenny Thorton 1893. My grandfather worked for a railroad from the time he was 14 until his marrage. It was said he was the oldest of 12 siblings and devoted his wotrking to pay for his siblings to come to the U.S.
