I don't think I have any information for you but I just had to post a note to you. As you must know by now, Gauchet is not a common name--in fact, I have never heard of anyone other than my mother's family by that name. I did hear once that there was someone by that name somewhere in the south but the person who told me that didn't have any other information.
My mother's grandfather was Peter (Pierre) A. Gauchet (b. Jan 19,1819--d. Jan 1889. He came to this country from somewhere near either Paris or Marseille and married Sarah Page Leete and they had 6 children and those chidren had quite a few chidren between them. Most stayed around Guilford,CT but I have no idea where the others moved to from there. The two of Peter's children that I have no information about were Lewis Gauchet and James Adolphus Gauchet, but there could have been grandchildren who moved out of the area--after all that was a long time ago.
