I believe that I am of the same Gattis family from Yalobusha and/or Tallahatchie counties. My great grandmother was Susan Elizabeth Mullins. Her mother was Tranquilla Elizabeth Gattis who married James M. Mullins, Jan 11, 1859 in Yalobusha County. I have found some more Gattis's in the county, but I can't figure out exactly how they're related. Maybe you could help?

Also, the name "Gattis" has been passed down in the family from Tranquilla. She and James Mullins had many children, and two Mullins sisters, Susan E. and Mary both married Stapp's. Mary named her son, Harmon Gattis Stapp. Also, Susan named a daughter, Martha Tranquilla Stapp! So you can see how big an influence the Gattis family has on my lineage.

Thanks,

David Alan Stapp
