Hi,

I appear to be decended from another son of John, Sr., a younger brother to your John, Jr. Mine is Samuel Gattis, b. about 1765, m. Margaret Allen. I'm afraid I'm new to this and am just trying to find my way around; however, I have a quite good book compiled by my uncle (now deceased). Our Samuel Gattis started out in PA, went to Orange County, NC, from there to Montgomery County, TN, and from there to Franklin County, Alabama, then Tallahatchie County, MS (sure did move a lot, didn't they?). Of John, Jr., my uncle has written "John Gattis is thought to have gone to Georgia, that is John Gattis, Jr. who married Elizabeth Connelly 19 Sept. 1787", but I have no idea where he got that. He had an extensive correspondence going with people all over the country.

I'm afraid I haven't helped much with the question you had, but if I have any information any of the other Gaddis (Gattis, Gaddes, Geddes) could use, I'll be glad to share.

C.W. Roberson (Mississippi)
