Good Afternoon Gatters...I will try to gather as much accurate data as possible for Peer, but here is a little sampling of our Gatter history, beginning with my father (don't have many of the dates right now): Elmer Valentine Gatter b. 14 Feb 1910 Phila PA d. 10 Sep 1976 Cape May NJ, married Grace Roberts circa 1940-41, 4 children - Paul, Carol, Joan & William Paul - b. May 1942? married Marilyn (living in Phila), 2 daughters, Laurie & Melanie Carol - b. 4 Jan 1944? married Richard Hal Tatum (living in Phila), 2 children - Richard Hal Tatum, Jr. & Debra Joan - b. 9 Aug 1946, married Donald Tweed (living in Cape May Court House, NJ), 2 children - David & Darlene William Frederick - b. 31 Jul 1948, married Judith Diane Mehrer of Clayton NJ on 5 Sep 1970, 2 children - Elizabeth Ann, b. 26 Jan 1973 & Heather Lynn, b. 27 Apr 1976 Dad had an older brother - Carl. Their mother died when dad was pretty young and their father pretty much abandoned them to be raised by other relatives - believe my dad was about nine at the time. Carl worked in Harrisburg, PA and had two daughters - Audrey & Susan. Carl died in the early 1970's. Our Gatters originated from Germany. I remember my father talking about a Great-Grandfather who supposedly was a poacher in Germany. Maybe I get my hunting & fishing passion from him! I'm currently on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard and will retire next year after serving more than 30 years. During my varied assignments, I only saw one other Gatter in the phone book. When I called him, he said his family was from Holmesburg, PA. For a few years I worked in Center City Phila as a UPS driver and I ran into Forrest Gatter (genealogy listed on this site). He worked for the Phila Firefighters Union at the time. I believe he had two sons - one a fireman, the other a policeman. I don't believe they were related to our Gatter branch. Enough rambling. It's always nice knowing about other relatives. I always wanted to visit Germany, and it would be great if I could touch base with a relative(s) from there. No current plans, but... Best regards to all, Bill
