It's been a good year since you posted this message. I think you'll find most of the northern MS Gatlins come out of TN. The main TN line of Gatlins/Gatlings come from the Lazarus Gatlin of Craven and Dobbs Co., NC line. Lazarus, son of Edward Gatlin II b. 1723, was b. 1740-48 and died and left a will in Davidson Co. TN 1808. That line has been well researched by Paula Eubanks whose research you can find in the Ancestry World Tree.
