Are you a descendant of Miles Gathright (b. ca. 1748/50) of New Kent County, Virginia? Miles Gathright first wife was Elizabeth, and they were married ca. 1769 in Virginia. Miles was a Second Lieutenant in the American Revolution. On August 29, 1795, Miles Gathright and Mary Collins were married in Richmond County, Georgia. Mary Collins was the daughter of James Collins and Caty Croom. Caty Croom was the daughter of Major Croom, Sr. and Olief Avery. Miles Gathright died about November 10, 1815 in Twiggs County, Georgia. I am from James C. Gathright, and he was the son of Miles Gathright and Mary Collins.
Do you have the documentation to connect Miles Gathright (b. ca. 1748/50) to his father Miles Gathright (b. ca. 1729) of New Kent County, Virginia? I have been told by others that this is the weak link. I know that that the connection of Miles Gathright to the Rev. Miles Garthwaite is from the research of the late P.D. Gathright, and I would like to see the documentation for this line.
