Information from this period is sketchy at best. We know that Miles moved the Gathright Clan south from Richmond to Fulbeck. Mile’s father is uncertain, but there are listings of Garthwaites dating back to 1200. It is probable that our line proceeds from the original Garthwaite (b. Unknown d. Unknown) named for his wonderful garden to Rev. John Garthwaite (b. bef. 1479/EN d. 1484/EN) to an unnamed Garthwaite (b. Unknown d. Unknown) to Rev. Giles Garthwaite (b. abt. 1556 d. aft. 1594) vicar of Highington to Rev. Miles Garthwaite (b. Abt. 1576/Richmond, Yorkshire, EN d. 4 January 1616/17/Fulbeck, Lincolnshire, EN) I hope this information helps.
