Roy, I posted the following as a new post in the Gatewood Forum about A. B. Gatewood and Ann E. Shackelford Gatewood. Don't know if you saw it. Just in case you didn't I'm attaching it as a reply to your most recent message. Possibly of interest to Gatewood and Shackelford families. The photograph of the tombstone of Ann E. Gatewood in Fillmore Utah is quite a find I think. Tim I recently came across the following information regarding their trip to California in 1865 and return to Texas and Missouri in 1868 that may interest descendants of the above couple. It is a diary kept by the wife of Ann's brother. The sites here contain only portions of the diary, but the entire diary is available in Covered Wagon Women Volume 9. I haven't yet read it. http://www.over-land.com/diaryruth.html and http://books.google.com/books?id=pf2eBRzXPVcC&pg=PA163&lpg=PA163&dq=ruth+shackelford+california+to+texas&source=bl&ots=y7khF25nhy&sig=edNA-KCN3mraESthiS3N9YHbqgQ&hl=en&ei=HA9RSuTbKYq4Npis_O0D&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9 (Just copy this long url and paste into your browser) Also about midway down the page of this blog: http://kristadarrach.blogspot.com/ is a photograph of the tombstone of Anne E. Gatewood in Fillmore, Utah, died "September 18th, 1865". I hope this is of interest and value to their descendants. Tim Sumrall Notify Administrator about this message?
