Michael, I am from Des Moines, Iowa. Have been trying to research my Gates line from NY state, to no avail. My Dad was born in Winnebago, Minn., in 1913 and the youngest son of William Gates and Ada Bell Ellis. His name was Arvid Upton Gates, and had 12 brothers and sisters who were orphaned after my grandmother Ada Bell died giving birth, and old William left them all. They were farmed out all over the U.S. If you know of any names like Carlton Rollo Gates, George Gates, Frederick Gates, Myron Gates, Paul Gates, Beaulah Gates Yoho, Lila Gates, Arvid U. Gates, Pernetta Gates Reynolds, can't remember the rest of my aunts and uncles. Let me know. I have relatives in Puget Sound, Wash., that I remember my mother talking about. Stay in touch.
