Judith, Thank you so much for your quick response. Do you have Horatio's War Of 1812 records? As he was not married to Lovina at that time I am curious to know how you folks knew her name. Perhaps you found this information out in Oakland County, Michigan where they lived prior to moving to Barry County, Michigan or from the last census they were in. Also I am wondering how you got the information that Milcah Ludden Gates was Horatios Mother? Horatio's mother was Zipporah Leonard. Milcah was Daniels second wife. The last census Horatio and Lovina are in they were living with one of there two sons Rueben Gates. An R. Gates (which I believe to be Rueben)had six cemetery plots in Cressy Cemetery in Prarieville, Michigan. I believe that is where Horatio and Lovina are buried; but have no proof. I believe two of Ruebens children are in two of the plots and my gg grandfather Robert D. and gg grandmother Jane Eliza Gates are in the last two plots. Robert and Jane drowned in Gull Lake, Michigan June 1871.It was deemed the "Gull Lake Mystery". The only stone you will find on this plot is a military stone that I had erected for Robert. Robert was a wagoneer and forage master in the Civil War (8th Michigan Company F) and the evidence provided to the government was sufficent enough to obtain the stone. I would be glad to send you copies of the newspaper articles printed in the newspapers up there when the stone was erected on this plot if yiu so wish. You would have to e-mail me your address. Rueben Gates and his wife Sarah are buried in Oketo, Kansas (it took me 3 years of research to find them) and I have been to there graves so that told us they wern't buried at Cressy. At this time in history this is all I can provide you with regarding Horatio Gates. Best Regards, Loren Notify Administrator about this message?
