I have no information on the ancestry of John Mitchell. However, according to "George Gates of East Haddam, CT and His Descendants" (1865) by D. Williams Patterson, LOIS Gates married John Mitchell in April, 1781. This marriage is also in the records of The First Church of Christ, Congregational, E. Haddam, CT. The ancestry of Lois-5 Gates is Paul-4 & Mehitable Rogers, Daniel-3 & Sarah Cone, Thomas-2 & Hannah Brainerd, George-1 & Sarah Olmsted.
