Thank you for the information. I am trying to find information on the family of John Mitchel who married April 1781 in East Haddam, CT. Louis (female) Gates b. 7/6/1762. John Mitchel was my gggg-gf and lived in East Haddam (Hadlyme area) and gave land adjoining Seldens, Niles, and Brockways to his son John Mitchell, 2nd (2 l's) who married Amy Bill of Lebanon. They, too, lived in East Haddam. I can find no information on either parents of John or Louis,or other children or a birth record that might give me the information I need to connect the two John Mitchels. Perhaps this book will help.
