I also show a son born to Zebediah Gates: 26 Feb 1750 in Groton, New London, CT by the name of: Peter Gates; Peter's daughter Lephe Gates (my direct ancestor)
was born 22 Nov 1787 in Leyden, Hampshire County, Massachussettes. Lephe married Capt. John Riddle(spelling later changed to Riddell)
Other info: A copy of the Chenango Telegraph, June 27, 1866 with the following under died:
Riddell, In Preston on the 23d inst., Mr. Lephe G. Riddell, aged 78 years. Then according to the Chenango County Cemetery Records by DAR: Vol I, pg. 225: Old Cemetery at Preston Corners - Very Bad condition, 1931:
Riddell, John, d. May 10, 1833, ae 49
Lephe, his wife, d. June 23, 1866, ae 78
