Your message was posted in 1999, I am hoping your email is current and you can answer. Your George H Gates is, I believe the same one I have been researching. I have family in the Broome and Otsego county areas. In a one of my Great grandmother’s albums I have a picture of a Merton Gates in Michigan with his family that says he is a cousin. I am thinking that George H Gates wife is Eveline Smith the sister to my Great Great Grandmother Lydia Jane. Their parents Thomas Smith and Sabrina Grove I know. But before that I am stumped. I would greatly appreciate any information.
