Pike Co IL, Matilda Gates m. to Emanuel Richardson

Marriage Records in Pike Co IL show M. Gates m. E. Richardson March 3, 1839. Emanuel Richardson is in the 1860 Schuyler Co MO census nearby James Gates and family. We thought that "Ruth" Gates b. ca1820 AL a daughter of Valentine Gates b. 1770 married Emanuel Richardson. Is Ruth a wrong name or is this a new Gates name connected to Valentine Gates?? His sons John V., James, William, Jackson, Phillip Gates went to Clinton, Pike, Fayette, Marion counties in IL by 1830 along with several daughters, Joyce, Elizabeth Jane, "Ruth". Some stayed and others moved on to LA, MO, TX.
Any one know about Matilda Gates and Emanuel Richardson. Who does she belong to?? Would sure like to clear this up.
