I am a descendant of Stephen and Ann (Veare) Gates from Hingham, which is what brings me to this forum. I know of no connection to your George. However....

I happened to drop in on your thread and thought I'd let you know of my Spencer's that apparently tie into your Gates line. Son Thomas and daughter Mary Gates married Spencer descendants: Hannah Brainerd and Daniel Cone.
