My father and his brothers have lived in Randolph Co AR and IL for many years. Although my father was born in Poinset Co we are related to some or all of the Gates in Randolph.
I have just begun to assemble our family tree and am finding it very challenging. The Gates name extends into almost every town and city in Northeast Ar and all across the country.
My immediate Gates family was not extremly close because (I feel) My grandfather Marion Francis Gates passed away when my father was 13 leaving 5 children ,my father being the oldest except for an older daughter from a previous marriage,and My grandmother remarried and had 5 more children.
I would like to give a brief outline of my family.According to my dad My greatgrandfather was Jessie Gates(born 18??) married to an indian whose name I am trying to find.Jessie had four boys one being Marion Francis Gates my grandfather who was born around 1901.Francis had five sons and one daughter. The oldest son Marion Willis Gates born 1940 is my father.He had two sons Wesley Joe Gates(me) born 1966 and Leslie Marion Gates born 1967.I have two children my brother has three.
I have more information but will end here. I would like to have all possible information on all or any of my family
