Hi Sherry,
I am a gggrandson of Jacob H. and Sarah Gates. We have been trying to get past Jacob in Ohio for a long time and believe we may have done so but can not confirm yet. Sarah's maiden name is McMinn. Her father's man is Joseph and Her mother's name is Elizabeth (Livick). We (myself and my wife) believe that Jacob's father's name is Timothy but have yet to prove it. We believe this because his first son was Timothy Joseph Gates. It was a custom to name your first son after your father(s). Write me back and maybe we can exchange information.
