Looking for info on g-g-grandfather, John Gates. Married Letitia Bradley Hall in l835 in Brazoria County, TX. Have no idea where John came from but do know that he was extremely educated. Have letter written to Stephen F. Austin in l829 indicating this. May have been in the War of l8l2 in La. John and Letitia fled to La. in l836 during Texas revolution w/Mexico. Letitia came back to Texas with their twin sons and daughter in approx. l842. The children were born in Franklin La. Assume that John died in La. Letitial remarried Allen C. Bullock in approx. l845. Any info appreciated.
