I have an original carte de visite photograph of “Hannah Gates - Bolton”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in Oswego (Oswego Co.) NY, and she looks to be about age 50-55. This photo has on the back a 2cent Revenue stamp, which identifies that the photo was taken between mid-1864 and mid-1866.
I found Hannah Gates as wife of John Gates in 1850 and 1860 censuses (in 1860, Hannah was 48, and John was age 51), BUT was listed as wife of Isaac Gates in the 1870 census for Bolton (Warren Co.) NY. She was age 58 and isaac was 67. By 1880 census, Hannah was a widow, age 69,
