John Gates married Rebecca Barksdale. Their children: John B. Gates bn 1810, John J. Gates bn 1818, George C. Gates, bn 1820, Collier Barksdale Gates, SR., bn 1825 and Morgan Gates, bn 1827. Collier Barksdale married Miranda Fletcher. One of their children was Collier Barksdale Jr., my great grandfather. Our Winn parish La. Gates' had mostly very dark hair.
