Recently passed thru Yuma, AZ and visited the old Yuma Territorial Prison. There was a Thomas Gates who was the Superintendent twice: 7/16/1886-4/12/1888 and 7/13/1893-7/14/1896. He arr AZ territory 1870. He had mining interests W of Tucson on the Colorado River. He married Emilie Prudhomme of Los Angeles 12/31/1870. She died10/16/1878. He never remarried. He had a brother, Solomon, in Los Angeles.
