Dear Les and other Gates researchers,
I am trying to find the parentage of my ancestor, Dimmis (aka Demarius)GATES b.11/23/1752 in East Haddon [sic - East Haddam], Middlesex Co., CT. Parents: Stephen Gates and Anna ---?. Dimmis mar.5/4/1779, at Chatham, CT. to Ithamar Rowley and d.aft.1830 in prob. New Lisbon, Otsego Co., NY. All info from GrGma's DAR membership through Ithamar. After reading all the posts and replies, I am wondering if anyone had info on her as a possible descendant of one of their lines. The ROWLEY family website says that this Stephen was a Rev. War Vet. and I am about to look for that info. Are your GATES related to the Rev. War General Gates? (not saying Stephen is he). Any info would be appreciated. Am sending for Robert C. Gates' book which was offered at Gates forum. Thanks, Deborah
