2. STEPHEN2 GATES (STEPHEN1) was born abt 1638, Hingham, Norfolk England, and died July 9, 1707, in Stow, Massachusetts. He married SARAH *WOODWARD April 5, 1658 in Stow, Massachusetts. She was the *daughter of George and Mary Woodward; she was *born February 6, 1641/42 in Watertown, Massachusetts and *died October 21, 1706 in Stow, Massachusetts.
Notes for STEPHEN GATES: His marriage resulted in the birth of eight children, the youngest were born in Marlborough, Massachusetts. He bought 300 acres of land on the Assabet River in Stow, Massachusetts where he died.

*i SIMON GATES, b June 5, 1666 Cambridge, Massachusetts; d June 22, 1752 Preston, New London Connecticutt. He m HANNAH BENJAMIN May 4, 1688.

iii. REBECCA GATES, b. July 23, 1682, Marlborough, Massachusetts. Her birth is recorded as Rebeckah Gattes.
