The Norfolk village of Gately/Gateley

Does anyone know anything about this small village? especially when it changed its name and why and its origins for example who founded it? and is it anything to do with the family name?

I have an old encyclapeadia Britanica (c. 1890) and in it the village is listed as Gately, but if you look it up now you will find its spelt Gateley. My Grandfather says we came from Rosscommon too, so i guess we are all related somehow!
