Bill et al:
Mary Prudence Lorena Gaston was married to both a Sanders and a Hudson. Her first husband was Charles William Sanders. They had one daughter, Mary.Charles enlisted in the Confederate Army and most likely was killed during the war, because Prudence was married to Thomas Greenberry Hudson by 1868 when she gave birth to their first child, Amanda Lutrecia Hudson. Here's what I have on Prudence:
Parents:James A. Gaston and Letticia Feemster
Marriages:
Charles William Sanders (1832-bef 1868)
-Mary R. Sanders (1854-1935)
Thomas Greenberry Hudson (1836-1922)
-Amanda Lutrecia Hudson 1868 – 1948
-Greenberry Smith Hudson 1869 – 1962
-Sarah Cornelia Hudson 1871 –
-Eliza Hudson 1872 – 1880
-Emma Katherine Hudson 1873 – 1964
-Maggie Angeline Hudson 1875 – 1959
-William Holmes Hudson 1877 – 1954
Prudence's tombstone has her as Mary Lorena Gaston. Her census records have her as Prudence, and that's how my gr-grandmother and gr-aunts knew her.So I've listed her in my tree as Mary Prudence Lorena Gaston.
On a separate note, the mother of Prudence's second husband (Thomas Greenberry)was also a Gaston. Her name was Martha Priscilla Gaston.I still haven't been able to determine her parentage.I believe I've corresponded with Bill about this.If anyone has information on this, I'd sure appreciate it.
