http://pagesperso-orange.fr/planetgaston/en/index.html Patrick and Brett have done a good job relating to you how the phoney "royal roots" stories have been debunked. What we are sure of is that numerous Gastons emigrated from Northern Ireland (mostly Co. Antrim) starting circa 1720. Some of these early immigrants were born as early as the 1680s. We've also discovered a buch of Gastons from 1669 tax rolls in Co Antrim. We haven';t quite figured out the relationship here to the first immigrant generation but that will happen. Fortunately, we're learning something about the Gastons prior to 1700 slowly but surely. Some of the information we've accumulated is on the site listed above. You can copy and paste it into your browser. It will be interesting to note we find Gastons all over but so far, we have no definable ancestors prior to Ulster and we're even doing some Gaston DNA research. The DNA (from male Gastons) will help us determine not only some N. American Gaston branches- descendants of the first Ulster immigrants- but may help tie us to some of the Scottish Gastons and, maybe, one day our "continental" progenitor! Take a look at the site and, if you're interested, there are contacts you can make for additional information. Its worth at least a casual perusal! Notify Administrator about this message?
