Man, I seem to have done a >lot< of posting on 3/19/07 -- must have been a slow day at the office -- but I assume you're referring to my post on the Sons of the Huguenot. No, I'm more confident than ever that some of these 1669 Antrim Gastons are our ancestors. The "name change," if it occurred, probably happened decades earlier -- when ol' Jean got off the boat in Scotland.
We have found some Gawstouns / Gastouns / Gastons in Scotland ca. 1596-1700, but haven't made a connection to any of the Northern Ireland Gastons yet.
Sadly, I doubt the Gaston de Foix legend will ever die, even though all available evidence indicates he left no children -- at least legitimate ones!
The Ulster trip has been postponed until (maybe 2009) as we have a lot of legwork to do before invading the UK. I don't think we're going to get anywhere without some local contacts who can make the necessary introductions, but one "cousin" is going over there soon and perhaps she can break the ice.
We did revisit Southwest France last year; had a lovely time in Toulouse, Foix, Mauvezin, Lectoure, Larressingle, etc., but it was really more of a tourist thing.
I don't know if we will ever get back to Hammurabi, but I'd be satisfied if we could establish the lineage to Vercingetorix. Stay tuned.
