Mitchell, I'll do that. Unfortunately, it was so many years ago and only once or twice that I recall hearing about Leif Erikson, or Eric the Red mentioned as a connection - but I definitely had handed down they were Norse and had gone to Normandy, France and that the name Gaston originated from the name of a town called Gastonia, or possibly Gastony, but I believe the first. I definitely recall that they had taken their name from a town in France. Secondly, since they also were in Antrim, Ireland, I think the relationship is more than distant cousins to those who may be related to Jean Gaston, especially since the ones in Nova Scotia were connected (supposedly on the same boat even) to those who entered Massachusetts and by some references, North Carolina. I am trying to get hold of the lady who came from France and was a neighbor of mine, because she seemed to have found the information of where this Gastonia was. Besides, the Vikings, etc. preceded Jean Gaston and if the name Gaston really did come from a town in France, then Jean Gaston descended from whoever first took on that name perhaps? The info handed down over the years could have been wrong or at least partially wrong, no doubt. That seems to happen most frequently but hopefully it could open a door to further discovery. I'll let you know what more I find out. Cheryl
