Charles Zepherin Gapard & Dorothee Dupuis
Hi Joseph, since your post we have found each other. That has made me happy, since I think your wesite will be great. I like the format.Hello Joyce in Texas, lost tract of you after you left Kaplan. Happy to see that you are still envolved in genealogy of the Gaspard.Ken, I assumed Charles and Dorothee married after the death of Clothile Broussard, Charles's first wife.Clothile appears in the 1860 census, but not in the 1870 census, therefore, i presumed her dead some time in 1863 before C&D married. That opened the way for Charles and Dorothee to be married in church "had there marriage blessed" with all of there 30+ year old children with them as witness. The records of the Vrmilion Parish Clerks office burned in the 1864 fire that totally destroyed the courthouse, verny few reminances of the record servived.I could only find one land record with Dorothee's name in it and that was unreaable. We are planning a Gaspard reunion sometime late this summer (August), probably in Kaplan, LA. If you are interested in working on the committeee e-mail me.
