You can use government sources to identify your father's birth and marriage: many are now online. Each will give you some extra details. Similarly for your mother.
My great-grandfather (George Charles Gaskin), and his father John Gaskin), came from Nottingham. His wife (Susannah Maria Gilbert) was from Dublin; I am still trying to find out how they met.
