Hi James:

Yes, I did the Tearcoat location after I sent the last message. Have you seen anything concrete on Amos' family, except for the possibility of Michael HILL's wife being a GASKIN? Does seem there is some serious overlap in given names between the two families. If the property was confiscated, Hill could have simply purchased it without a family connection.

Why was Amos suppose to have been killed at Tearcoat? Nor can I find anything on the Internet about him being killed by Marion's men. Do you know what the reference is for this ongoing statement? I can find no evidence that he served with the Loyalist troops at that battle or any other in SC. I have found a John GASKIN who served from 1780-1782 with a Camden Co militia but I haven't tracked them in any battles yet. Haven't located anything that might put an age on John so I don't know if he is a contemporary of Amos' or a possible son or nephew.

I appreciate your help on this.

Sharon
