. CHARLES AARON3 GASKILL (ABRAHAM2, AARON1) was born 10 August 1832 in NJ, and died 04 March 1895 in Winterset, Madison Co, IA. He married MATILDA "TILLY" MITCHELL 24 March 1881 in Madison Co, IA, daughter of N. MITCHELL and M. TEARIN.

from "Directory of Madison County" IA 1879:
Gaskill, C.A., raiser of fine horses; born in New Jersey in 1832 and
removed with his parents to Ohio in 1835; he learned the trade of
tailor, and after coming to this county in 1852, followed that business
three years; he then entered Wesleyan University, at Mt. Pleasant,
intending to prepare himself for the bar, but, owing to an affection of
the eyes, was compelled to abandon it after reading two years. In 1860
he went to Denver and engaged in dealing in real estate and on his
return to this county engaged in the same business. He owns 40 acres
within the city limits, 320 acres in Clay county, 160 acres in Kansas
and 80 acres in Indiana. Of late years he has been turning his
attention to the raising of fine road horses and owns the noted hores,
"Panic". His stock of horses are noted for their speed, all of them
without exception, being fast, and they are held in such repute that
they bring the highest price in the market.

Charles was 49 years old when he married and Matilda was 23. His
parents, Abraham and Catherine were listed on the marriage papers.

Death date is from a "funeral card" found in his neice's house.

Obituary "Winterset Madisonian" March 8, 1895
Mr. Charles A. Gaskill, an old time resident of Winterset, died very
suddenly Monday evening last, after an illness of two or three days with
pneumonia. Mr. Gaskill was a native of New Jersey. He settled in
Winterset at an early day. At the time of his death he was sixty two
yearss of age. He has for many years been a prominent horse breeder and
fancier and was a man of considerable means. He leaves a widow and
several children. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church
Wednesday afternoon.
