Laura,
I was born in Up Holland where Gaskell (though not Gaskill) is a very common surname. Nearby is a village called Winstanley which may have been spelt Windstanley at some point. Perhaps the Gaskill in question came from there?
The churchyard, by the way, holds the grave of the last highwayman, George Lyon, to be hung in England.
Hope some of that is of use.
